The Chief Object of Our Publications
The chief object of our publications is to bring about a revival and reformation among our Brothers and Sisters in the Seventh-day Adventist church. The truth herein contained is divided into many sections, giving proof from different angles, to prevent any confusion. The subjects are made clear by the use of the Bible and the writings given by the Spirit of Prophecy. (Rev. 19:10.)
The truths revealed here are of great importance to the church because of the foretold danger which God’s people are soon to meet. It calls for decided action on the part of the believers to separate from all worldliness, while they anchor themselves on the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ by obedience to all the truth revealed in His Word. We must follow the Lord’s council found in John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”He who controls the Scriptures is able to reveal present truth to His people at a time when needed. (Early Writings p. 63.) Though such truths are originally prophetic, they become new, and stand as a direct letter from God to men at the time revealed. “Thus saith God the Lord… Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (Isa. 42:5, 9.)
All the books of Holy Writ meet and end in the “Revelation.” Therefore, to understand that book is to understand the Bible. “The One who reveals the mysteries to John will give to the diligent searcher for truth a foretaste of Heavenly things. Those whose hearts are open to the reception of truth will be enabled to understand its teachings, and will be granted the blessing promised to those who ‘hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein.’” — The Acts of the Apostles, pp. 584, 585.
Thus, when the Revelation is understood, it will unlock the great Store House and bring to light all the prophetic mysteries that are stored in it.
Since the Bible plainly says that the “truth” shall make us “free,” we must closely examine ourselves and the things we believe. God has devised a pictorial representation of the truth, by which He is able to enlighten His church. The messages presented are taught by symbols, types, and parables, and all who are searching for truth with the intention to fit themselves for the heavenly garner, will easily comprehend them.
“Christ was the foundation of the Jewish economy. The whole system of types and symbols was a compacted prophecy of the gospel, a presentation in which were bound up the promises of redemption.” — The Acts of the Apostles, p. 14.
The reason these wonders were portrayed by types and symbols is the same as that which caused Christ to teach by parables. “And the disciples came, and said unto Him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” (Matt. 13:10, 11.)
It is our prayer that you will take the time to study the materials presented, following the example of the Bereans. “The minds of the Bereans were not narrowed by prejudice. They were willing to investigate the truthfulness of the doctrines preached by the apostles… Wherever the truths of the gospel are proclaimed, those who honestly desire to do right are led to a diligent searching of the Scriptures. If, in the closing scenes of this earth’s history, those to whom testing truths are proclaimed would follow the example of the Bereans, searching the Scriptures daily, and comparing with God’s word the messages brought them, there would today be a large number loyal to the precepts of God’s law, where now there are comparatively few. But when unpopular Bible truths are presented, many refuse to make this investigation…” The Acts of the Apostles, pp. 231, 232.
Let the truth be presented as it is in Jesus, “for precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” Isaiah 28:10.
