Receiving the Seal

SECTION 1 — FAITH & GRACE HARMONY

The Seal of God and the 144,000

The sealing of God’s people is one of the most solemn and hope-filled themes in Scripture. Revelation 7:1–8 describes a people preserved in the final crisis, the 144,000, sealed by God Himself. This sealing is not a human achievement. It is the work of Christ through the Holy Spirit in those who trust Him fully.

Spirit of Prophecy confirms:

“This sealing of the servants of God is the same that was shown to Ezekiel in vision.” Testimonies to Ministers, p. 445.

From the very beginning, we must anchor this study in the gospel: salvation and sealing come only through the grace of Christ, received by faith.

“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, (14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory…. (30) And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians 1:13, 14; 4:30.

“Angels Read the Mark.–What is the seal of the living God, which is placed in the foreheads of His people? It is a mark which angels, but not human eyes, can read; for the destroying angel must see this mark of redemption. The intelligent mind has seen the sign of the cross of Calvary in the Lord’s adopted sons and daughters. The sin of the transgression of the law of God is taken away. They have on the wedding garment, and are obedient and faithful to all God’s commands (Letter 126, 1898). ).” Ellen G. White, Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, Vol. 7, p. 968.

“‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: according as he hath chosen us in him, . . . that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, . . . the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the Beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.’ (par. 1) Such are the words in which ‘Paul the aged,’ ‘the prisoner of Jesus Christ,’ writing from his prison-house at Rome, endeavored to set before his brethren that which he found language inadequate to express in its fulness,–‘the unsearchable riches of Christ,’–the treasure of grace freely offered to the fallen sons of men. The plan of redemption was laid by a sacrifice, a gift. Says the apostle: ‘Ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.’ ‘God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.’ Christ ‘gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity.’ And as the crowning blessing of redemption, ‘the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.’ (par. 2) ‘In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.’ (par. 3) The Review and Herald, October 22, 1908, The Inestimable Gift.

These two, faith and grace, are inseparable. They are like two legs that enable the believer to walk the Christian path. Grace is God’s gift; faith is the hand that receives it. Neither stands alone.

To understand the sealing work clearly, Scripture first shows us what the seal is and how God applies it to His people.

Paul writes:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8.

Spirit of Prophecy beautifully explains this harmony.

It teaches that:

  • Grace is God’s free gift, offered without merit.
  • Faith itself is also a gift, imparted to every human being.
  • Faith lays hold of divine power, enabling the believer to walk in God’s ways.
  • Every good impulse originates with God, and faith receives the life that produces true growth.
  • The righteousness of Christ is imputed to us as a free gift, breaking Satan’s power of doubt and discouragement.
  • The plan of redemption begins and ends with a gift, and is carried forward by the same Spirit of grace.

The sealing is not something we earn by sighing, crying, reforming, or striving.

Instead:

  • Grace provides the power.
  • Faith receives the power.
  • The Holy Spirit applies the power.
  • The seal recognizes the result of that power.

The believer cooperates with God, but never contributes merit. Faith does not replace grace; grace does not eliminate faith. Together they bring the soul into living union with Christ.

What Is the Seal of the Living God?

The seal is God’s mark of ownership — a spiritual sign placed upon those who belong wholly to Christ.

Spirit of Prophecy describes it as:

“A mark which angels, but not human eyes, can read.” Letter 126, 1898; 4BC 1161.

This mark is not external. It is the inward work of the Holy Spirit, settling the believer into truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved.

The seal is placed upon those who have allowed Christ’s righteousness to be written in their hearts. It is the divine recognition that the believer has surrendered fully to Christ and allowed His character to be reproduced in them.

Why the Seal Matters — and Why It Is Not Earned

Scripture teaches that only those who receive the seal will be protected during the judgments that fall upon the unrepentant.

Spirit of Prophecy says:

“Our own course of action will determine whether we shall receive the seal of the living God or be cut down by the destroying weapons.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 212.

It does not mean we earn the seal by our actions.

Rather:

  • Our actions reveal whether we have received God’s grace.
  • Our choices show whether we have exercised the faith God has given us.
  • Our obedience is the fruit of grace, not the basis of salvation.
  • Grace initiates the work.
  • Faith receives the work.
  • The Holy Spirit completes the work.
  • The seal acknowledges the work.

Paul assures us:

“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it.” Philippians 1:6.

The Connection to Ezekiel 9

Because the sealing in Revelation 7 is the same as the marking in Ezekiel 9, we turn to that chapter for insight.

The Lord commands:

“Set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations…” Ezekiel 9:4.

Those who receive the mark are not sinless by human effort. They are those who, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, feel deep sorrow for sin — first in their own lives, then in the church. Their sighing and crying are not meritorious acts, but the evidence that grace has softened the heart and faith has laid hold of divine power.

Spirit of Prophecy explains:

“Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost…are those that sigh and cry.” RH, Sept. 23, 1873.

Notice the emphasis: “wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost.”

  • It is grace in action.
  • It is faith responding.
  • It is the Holy Spirit sealing.

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30.

The Spirit’s Work in Producing Sighing and Crying

True repentance is always the work of God:

“The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.” Romans 2:4.

Those who sigh and cry do so because the Holy Spirit has given them Christ’s heart. They long for purity, not to earn God’s favor, but because they have already received His grace.

Spirit of Prophecy warns:

“The class who do not feel grieved over their own spiritual declension…will be left without the seal of God.”
Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 211.

It is not a threat. It is a spiritual reality:

  • A heart untouched by grace cannot mourn over sin.
  • A heart transformed by grace cannot remain indifferent.

The 144,000 and the Judgment of the Living

The sealing of the 144,000 marks the beginning of the judgment of the living. These faithful ones are described as “firstfruits” (Revelation 14:4), a people purified through the Holy Spirit’s work and preserved through earth’s final crisis.

Their faithfulness is not self-generated.

Revelation describes them as those who:

“Follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.” Revelation 14:4.

  • They follow because grace has drawn them.
  • They obey because faith has united them to Christ.
  • They stand because the Spirit has sealed them.

SECTION 2 — THE CALL TO REFORM

The Call to Reform—The Fruit of Grace in the Life of the Sealed

When the Holy Spirit seals God’s people, He does not merely place a mark upon them — He transforms them.

The seal is the divine recognition that Christ’s grace has done its work in the heart. The faithful will understand that every call to reform in Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy comes through the lens of faith receiving grace, and grace producing obedience.

“…ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit.” Ephesians 1:13.

  • Reform is not the cause of sealing.
  • Reform is the evidence of sealing.
  • Reform is the fruit of grace.
  • Reform is the response of faith.

Jesus said:

“Make the tree good, and his fruit good.” Matthew 12:33.

The fruit does not make the tree good — the tree makes the fruit good. Likewise, the Holy Spirit makes the believer new, and the life reveals the transformation.

Spirit of Prophecy echoes this:

“Every good impulse or aspiration is the gift of God.” RH, Dec. 24, 1908.

Thus, when God calls His people to reform, He is not demanding that they produce righteousness by human effort. He is inviting them to cooperate with the grace that is already working in them.

Why Reform Matters in the Sealing Work

The sealing is God’s final act of settling His people into truth—not only intellectually, but also spiritually. The Holy Spirit will produce the desire for His people to align their hearts with God’s will. Reform is the outward expression of inward surrender.

Spirit of Prophecy declares:

“Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost…” RH, Sept. 23, 1873.

Notice the order:

  1. The Holy Spirit works.
  2. Truth is written in the heart.
  3. Reform follows.
  4. The seal is placed.

That is the gospel pattern.

Paul describes it this way:

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13.

  • God works in us (grace).
  • We respond through faith.
  • The life changes by the Holy Spirit.
  • The seal is placed upon those who have surrendered.

Reform is not a ladder we climb to reach God. Reform is the path God walks us through as He leads us to Himself.

The Spirit’s Work in Producing Reform

Every genuine reform begins with Christ. He is the Vine; we are the branches (John 15:5). Without Him, we can do nothing. With Him, we bear much fruit.

Spirit of Prophecy explains:

“Faith receives from God the life that alone can produce true growth and efficiency.” RH, Dec. 24, 1908.

It means:

  • Reform is not self-improvement.
  • Reform is not moral self-discipline.
  • Reform is not human willpower.
  • Reform is the manifestation of divine life in the soul.

When the Spirit convicts, He also empowers. When He reveals sin, He also provides victory. When He calls for change, He supplies the strength to obey. Thus, every reform in the Christian life is a miracle of grace.

Why Reform Is Urgent in the Last Days

The sealing work takes place during the judgment of the living — a time when God prepares His people to stand without a mediator. The faithful do not stand in their own righteousness. It means they stand in Christ’s righteousness, fully united to Him, fully surrendered, fully transformed.

Spirit of Prophecy affirms:

“At the time when the danger and depression of the church are greatest, the little company who are standing in the light will be sighing and crying…” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 209.

This “little company” is not self-righteous. They are Christ-dependent. Their sighing and crying is the result of:

  • A Spirit‑softened heart
  • A deep love for God’s honor
  • A clear view of the sinfulness of sin
  • A longing for purity
  • A burden for the church

It is the heart of Christ reproduced in His people.

Reform Is Not Legalism — It Is Love

Jesus said:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15.

  • Obedience is not the price of God’s love.
  • Obedience is the proof of our love for Him.

Spirit of Prophecy confirms:

“Faith is trusting God — believing that He loves us, and knows best what is for our good.” RH, Dec. 24, 1908.

When we trust His love, we choose His way. When we receive His grace, we walk in His will. When we behold His goodness, we turn from sin. Reform is not a burden — it is the joy of a heart set free.

In the sections that follow, we will explore the major areas of reform that the Spirit of God produces in the lives of those being sealed.

The Areas of Reform That Follow in This Study:

Section 3: Sabbath Reform

Section 4: Reverence in the house of God

Section 5: Health reform

Section 6: Leaning on the arm of flesh & Spiritual discernment

These reforms are not requirements we fulfill to earn the seal. Reforms are the signs that the Holy Spirit is preparing us for the seal. Each reform is a gift of grace. Each reform is received by faith. Each reform reflects Christ’s character. Each reform prepares the heart for the final sealing.

SECTION 3 — SABBATH REFORM

A Sign of Loyalty Born From Grace

As the sealing work progresses, Scripture reveals that the Sabbath becomes a central issue of loyalty. Yet this loyalty is never produced by human willpower alone. True Sabbath keeping flows from a heart transformed by grace and united to Christ by faith.

True Sabbath keeping is recognizing the Creator by honoring the day He set apart in His law. God commanded His people to remember the Sabbath because He knew humanity would be tempted to forget, replace, or redefine it. The seventh day, beginning at sundown Friday and ending at sundown Saturday, was blessed, sanctified, and anchored in creation itself. Sabbath observance is therefore an act of loyalty to the Creator who made heaven and earth.

When the first day of the week is elevated above the day God sanctified, it reflects a shift in authority—from God’s command to human tradition. Scripture consistently identifies Sunday as the first day, not the Sabbath, and history shows that Sunday observance arose from human and political influence rather than a divine command. Any system that substitutes human authority for God’s law aligns with the adversary’s strategy to obscure the Creator and His sign of sovereignty.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. (9) Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: (10) But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: (11) For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11.

Again:

“…God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” Genesis 2:3.

The Sabbath is not merely a test — it is a gift, a delight, and a sign of the relationship between God and His people.

“Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.” Ezekiel 20:12.

Notice the order:

  • God sanctifies the Sabbath.
  • The Sabbath becomes a sign of His sanctifying work.

The Sabbath does not sanctify us by our observance. God sanctifies us by His grace, and the Sabbath becomes the outward sign of His inward work. This is why the sealed are described as those who “keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). Their obedience is the fruit of faith, not the foundation of salvation.

The Sabbath is rooted in creation and in redemption.

God says:

“It is a sign…for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth.” Exodus 31:16–17.

And again, in the second giving of the law:

“And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.” Deuteronomy 5:15, (See verses 6-14).

Creation and redemption are both works of God alone. Thus, the Sabbath is a sign of grace, not human achievement. Sabbath keeping, then, is the believer’s joyful response to that gift — a weekly reminder that we rest in Christ’s finished work.

Why Sabbath Reform Matters in the Sealing

The Sabbath is the only commandment that contains God’s name, title, and jurisdiction. It identifies Him as Creator and Redeemer. In the last days, when the world embraces counterfeit worship, the Sabbath becomes the distinguishing mark of those who trust God’s Word above human authority.

But again, this loyalty is not legalistic. It is relational.

Jesus said:

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:10.

  • Love is the motive.
  • Grace is the power.
  • Faith is the response.
  • Obedience is the fruit.

Spirit of Prophecy calls for:

“Far more sacredness is attached to the Sabbath than is given it by many professed Sabbathkeepers…He calls for a reform in the observance of the Sabbath.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 353.

This reform is not about earning God’s favor. It is about aligning our lives with His will so that His seal may be placed upon hearts fully surrendered to Him.

Keeping the Sabbath Holy: A Work of the Spirit

Isaiah gives a beautiful picture of Sabbath reform:

“If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: (14) Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” Isaiah 58:13–14

  • Delight cannot be commanded.
  • Delight is produced by love.
  • Love is produced by grace.
  • Thus, Sabbath reform is the Holy Spirit’s work in the heart.

Spirit of Prophecy explains:

“God requires not only that we refrain from physical labor upon the Sabbath, but that the mind be disciplined to dwell upon sacred themes.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 2, pp. 702–704.

This discipline is not self-generated. It is the result of a mind renewed by the Holy Spirit.

Paul writes:

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2.

The Holy Spirit renews the mind. The renewed mind delights in God. The delighted heart honors the Sabbath.

Practical Sabbath Reform—Grace in Action

Below are the key areas of Sabbath reform, presented in a Christ-centered way that avoids legalism while preserving prophetic urgency.

1. Preparation Day

Preparation is not a burden — it is a blessing. It removes distractions so the Sabbath can be fully enjoyed.

“On Friday let the preparation for the Sabbath be completed.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 355.

Grace teaches us to order our lives so that nothing robs us of the sacred hours.

2. Our Conversation on the Sabbath

Spirit of Prophecy warns that worldly conversation on the Sabbath reveals a mind not yet surrendered:

“Talking upon worldly things…is speaking our own words.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 2, p. 703.

It is not a call to forced silence. It is a call to spiritual focus. When Christ fills the heart, the Sabbath becomes a joy, and the conversation naturally turns to Him.

3. Family Worship at Sundown

The Sabbath begins and ends with worship, not as a ritual, but as a celebration of God’s goodness.

“Before the setting of the sun, let the members of the family assemble to read God’s Word, to sing and pray.”
Child Guidance, p. 529.

This practice strengthens faith and unites the family in Christ.

4. Food and Appetite on the Sabbath

Spirit of Prophecy instructs that Sabbath meals should be simple so the mind remains clear to receive spiritual truth.

“Overeating befogs the brain…By overeating on the Sabbath, many have dishonored God.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 357.

It is not asceticism (self-discipline). It is spiritual wisdom. A clear mind is better able to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice.

5. Children and the Sabbath

Children learn to love the Sabbath when they see it lived with joy, not severity.

“In pleasant weather let parents walk with their children…tell them the reason for the institution of the Sabbath.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 358.

Grace makes the Sabbath beautiful. Love makes it memorable.

6. Traveling on the Sabbath

Spirit of Prophecy counsels that unnecessary travel should be avoided, not as a legalistic rule, but to preserve the sacredness of the day.

“If we desire the blessing promised to the obedient, we must observe the Sabbath more strictly.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 359.

The goal is not restriction — it is reverence.

Sabbath Reform and the Seal

The Sabbath is the sign of God’s creative and redemptive power. Those who receive the seal are those who have allowed Christ to write His law in their hearts (Hebrews 8:10). Sabbath keeping is not mechanical — it is spiritual. It is the expression of a heart united to Christ by grace and faith.

Spirit of Prophecy expounds:

“It means eternal salvation to keep the Sabbath holy unto the Lord.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 356.

It does not mean Sabbath keeping earns salvation. It means that Sabbath keeping reveals salvation—the salvation that Christ is working out in our hearts.

SECTION 4 — REVERENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD

Reverence in God’s House—A Reflection of a Sanctified Heart

As the sealing work advances, the Holy Spirit leads God’s people into deeper reverence for His presence. True reverence is not a formality or a ritual. It is the natural response of a heart transformed by grace — a heart that recognizes the holiness of God and, by faith, delights to honor Him.

The psalmist declares:

“Holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.” Psalm 93:5.

Reverence is not something we manufacture. It is something the Holy Spirit produces as He writes God’s law upon the heart. When Christ dwells within, the believer approaches worship with awe, humility, and joy.

Spirit of Prophecy teaches:

“From the sacredness which was attached to the earthly sanctuary, Christians may learn how they should regard the place where the Lord meets with His people.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 491.

This reverence is not fear-based. It is love-based. It is the fruit of grace.

Why Reverence Matters in the Sealing

The sealing is God’s final work of settling His people into truth—not only intellectually, but also spiritually. A reverent spirit reveals that the heart has been subdued by grace and brought into harmony with heaven.

Heaven is a place of perfect order, perfect purity, and perfect reverence. Those preparing to live in God’s presence forever will reflect that atmosphere now.

Spirit of Prophecy warns:

“The precious, the sacred, things which connect us with God are fast losing their hold upon our minds and hearts.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 492.

This loss of reverence is not merely a cultural shift—it is a spiritual danger. A careless attitude toward worship reveals a careless attitude toward God Himself. But the Holy Spirit is calling His people back to a deeper sense of the sacred.

Christ‑Centered Reverence—Not Formalism, but Transformation

Reverence is not about rigid behavior. It is about recognizing God’s presence.

When Christ lives in the heart, the believer naturally approaches worship with:

  • Humility
  • Quietness of spirit
  • Respect for sacred things
  • A desire to honor God above self

This act prepares our hearts to receive God’s blessings.

Spirit of Prophecy declares:

“When the worshipers enter the place of meeting, they should do so with decorum, passing quietly to their seats.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 492.

Decorum is not legalism. It is love. It is the Holy Spirit teaching us how to honor the King of kings.

Common Talking, Whispering, and Irreverence

One of the greatest challenges in modern worship is the casual, social atmosphere that often replaces reverence.

Spirit of Prophecy states plainly:

“Common talking, whispering, and laughing should not be permitted in the house of worship, either before or after the service.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 492.

This counsel is not meant to suppress joy or fellowship. It is meant to preserve the sacredness of God’s presence. There is a time for fellowship — but the sanctuary is a place for prayer, reflection, and communion with God.

Jesus Himself demonstrated this when He cleansed the temple:

“My house shall be called the house of prayer.” Matthew 21:13.

Christ’s zeal for His Father’s house was not anger — it was love. He longed for the people to experience the holiness and peace of true worship.

Merchandising and Secular Activities in the Sanctuary

Spirit of Prophecy strongly warns against turning the house of God into a place of business:

“If Christ were now upon earth, He would drive out these peddlers and traffickers…as when He entered the temple anciently.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, pp. 471–472.

It is not about rules—it is about protecting the sacred. When the sanctuary becomes a marketplace, the mind is turned from God to self. The Holy Spirit cannot impress the heart when the atmosphere is worldly. The sealed people of God will honor His house because they honor Him.

The Spirit of Reverence in the Last Days

As the sealing work progresses, the Holy Spirit will restore reverence among God’s people. It is not a return to cold formality. It is a return to holy awe — the awe that Moses felt at the burning bush, the awe Isaiah felt in the temple, the awe John felt on Patmos.

Spirit of Prophecy declares:

“We have a sacred, testing, sanctifying truth; and if our habits and practices are not in accordance with the truth, we are sinners against great light.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 495.

Reverence is part of that sanctifying truth. It prepares the heart to receive the seal. It aligns the soul with heaven’s atmosphere.

Only God Is to Be Revered

In a world that exalts human leaders, Scripture reminds us that reverence belongs to God alone:

“Holy and reverend is His name.” Psalm 111:9.

Spirit of Prophecy states:

“It dishonors God to address ministers as ‘Reverend.’ No mortal has any right to attach this to his own name.” Evangelism, p. 133.

This counsel protects the church from human exaltation and keeps the focus on Christ. The sealed people of God will honor their leaders, but they will worship only God.

Reverence as a Preparation for the Seal

Reverence is not a requirement we fulfill to earn God’s favor. It is the natural expression of a heart transformed by grace. It is the fruit of faith. It is the evidence that Christ dwells within. The sealing angel passes through the church, marking those who have surrendered fully to Christ. Reverence reveals that surrender. A careless, irreverent spirit reveals a heart not yet settled into truth. A humble, reverent spirit reveals a heart prepared for the seal.

SECTION 5 — HEALTH REFORM

Health Reform—Preparing Mind and Body for the Seal of God

Health reform is not a peripheral issue in the sealing work. It is deeply spiritual. The Holy Spirit prepares a people to stand in the last days, and part of that preparation involves aligning their appetites, habits, and physical powers with the principles of heaven.

But we must be clear from the beginning.

Health reform does not save us. Christ alone saves us by grace through faith. Health reform is the result of salvation—not the cause. It is the fruit of grace — not the root. It is the evidence of surrender — not the basis of acceptance.

Spirit of Prophecy affirms:

“Every good impulse or aspiration is the gift of God.” RH, Dec. 24, 1908.

That includes the desire to care for the body, the temple of the Holy Spirit.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1.

This verse places health reform on the right foundation: not human effort, but God’s mercy; not legalism, but worship; not self-righteousness, but surrender.

Why Health Reform Matters in the Sealing

The sealing work requires a clear mind, a surrendered will, and a heart sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s voice. The enemy knows this, which is why appetite was his first temptation in Eden and his first temptation to Christ in the wilderness.

Spirit of Prophecy emphasizes:

“We are not to settle down, expecting that a change of character will come to us by some miraculous work, when Jesus shall appear in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. No, my young friends, we are judgment-bound, and probation is granted to us here in this life, in order that we may form characters for the future, immortal life. If the truth of God is abiding in our hearts, it will work by love, and sanctify the soul from every defilement. ‘And every man that hath this hope in him, purifieth himself, even as he is pure.’ There is no chance to plead for the retention of one idol, for the cherishing of one wrong hereditary or cultivated habit. We are called upon to have complete government over our bodies, as God’s special habitation. The body is not to be treated carelessly. There is to be no reckless action, no needless imperiling of any organ of the body or faculty of the mind. We are not to indulge in any habit that will weaken physical or mental strength, or abuse our powers in any way. We are to do all in our power to keep ourselves in health, in order that we may have sweetness of disposition, a clear mind, and be able to distinguish between the sacred and the common, and honor God in our bodies and in our spirits, which are his (par. 2).” The Youth’s Instructor, August 24, 1893.

It is not legalism — it is spiritual realism. When the body is abused, the mind becomes clouded. When the mind is clouded, spiritual discernment is weakened. When discernment is weakened, the Holy Spirit’s impressions are harder to recognize.

That is why Daniel refused the king’s food:

“Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself…” Daniel 1:8.

His choice was not about diet alone — it was about loyalty, clarity, and spiritual strength.

Grace Produces Reform — Reform Does Not Produce Grace

Spirit of Prophecy warns:

“The failure to follow sound principles has marred the history of God’s people. There has been a continual backsliding in health reform, and as a result, God is dishonored by a great lack of spirituality (par. 13). RH, May 27, 1902 (See also Counsels on Health, p. 578).

But Inspiration also teaches that:

  • The desire for reform is a gift of grace.
  • The power to reform comes from Christ.
  • The purpose of the health reform is to clear the mind so it can understand the truth.

Spirit of Prophecy cautions:

“It is as truly a sin to violate the laws of our being as it is to break the ten commandments. To do either is to break God’s laws. Those who transgress the law of God in their physical organism, will be inclined to violate the law of God spoken from Sinai.” Christian Temperance Bible Hygiene, p. 53, (See also Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 17).

That is not a threat — it is a spiritual principle. The body and mind are connected. The Holy Spirit works through both. Thus, health reform is not a burden — it is a blessing. It is not a restriction — it is liberation. It is not self-righteousness — it is Christ’s righteousness lived out in practical life.

The Controlling Power of Appetite

One of the most solemn warnings in the Spirit of Prophecy is this:

“The controlling power of appetite will prove the ruin of thousands, when, if they had conquered on this point, they would have moral power to gain victory over every other temptation of Satan. But slaves to appetite will fail in perfecting Christian character. The continual transgression of man for six thousand years has brought sickness, pain, and death, as its fruits.” The Health Reformer, August 1, 1875, par. 17. (See also Counsels on Health, p. 574.)

Why?

Because appetite affects the mind, and the mind is the battlefield of the sealing. Satan knows that if he can cloud the mind, he can weaken faith, dull conviction, and hinder the Holy Spirit’s work. But Christ offers victory.
Grace breaks the chains of appetite. Faith receives the strength to overcome.

Spirit of Prophecy reveals:

“Faith receives from God the life that alone can produce true growth and efficiency.” RH, Dec. 24, 1908.

Thus, victory over appetite is not willpower — it is grace‑power.

Health Reform and Spiritual Discernment

Spirit of Prophecy makes a profound connection between diet and the ability to understand truth:

“We have the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, which is the spirit of prophecy. Priceless gems are to be found in the word of God. Those who search this word should keep the mind clear. Never should they indulge perverted appetite in eating or drinking. (par. 1) If they do this, the brain will be confused; they will be unable to bear the strain of digging deep to find out the meaning of those things which relate to the closing scenes of this earth’s history. (par. 2).” Testimonies to Ministers, p. 114.

That is why health reform is part of the sealing work. Not because diet earns salvation, but because diet affects discernment. And discernment is essential in the last days. The Holy Spirit is preparing a people who can hear His voice clearly. Health reform is one of the tools He uses to sharpen the mind and purify the life.

Meat Eating and the Last Generation

The Spirit of Prophecy is clear that God is leading His people back to Edenic simplicity:

“Vegetables, fruits, and grains should compose our diet. Not an ounce of flesh meat should enter our stomachs. The eating of flesh is unnatural. We are to return to God’s original purpose in the creation of man.” MS 115, 1903. (See also Counsels on Diet and Foods, p. 380).

“Again and again I have been shown that God is trying to lead us back, step by step, to his original design, —that man should subsist upon the natural products of the earth. Among those who are waiting for the coming of the Lord, meat-eating will eventually be done away; flesh will cease to form a part of their diet. We should ever keep this end in view, and endeavor to work steadily toward it. I cannot think that in the practice of flesh-eating we are in harmony with the light which God has been pleased to give us. All who are connected with our health institutions especially should be educating themselves to subsist on fruits, grains, and vegetables. If we move from principle in these things, if we as Christian reformers educate our own taste, and bring our diet to God’s plan, then we may exert an influence upon others in this matter, which will be pleasing to God.” Christian Temperance Bible Hygiene, p. 119. (See also Counsels on Diet and Foods, pp. 380, 381).

It is not a test of fellowship. It is not a requirement for salvation. It is not a badge of superiority. It is a progressive work of grace in the life of the believer. As the Holy Spirit prepares the 144,000,

He leads them to:

  • Simplicity
  • Clarity
  • Purity
  • Self‑control
  • Dependence on Christ

That is not human achievement — it is divine transformation.

Health Reform and the Seal

Health reform does not place the seal on the forehead; it prepares the mind and heart to receive the seal.

The seal is placed upon those who:

  • Have surrendered fully to Christ
  • Walk in obedience through grace and faith
  • Allow the Holy Spirit to purify their lives
  • Reflect Christ’s character in all their ways

Health reform is one of the ways the Holy Spirit writes God’s law in the heart. It is not the cause of sealing —it is the evidence of sealing.

SECTION 6 — LEANING ON THE ARM OF FLESH & SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT

Leaning on the Arm of Flesh—A Warning for the Last Days

One of the greatest dangers facing God’s people in the sealing time is the temptation to rely on human wisdom, authority, or leadership rather than on Christ.

The Bible speaks plainly:

“Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” Jeremiah 17:5.

It is not a call to distrust godly leaders. It is a call to place ultimate trust in God alone. Human beings, even sincere ones, are fallible. Christ alone is infallible. The sealed people of God are those who have learned to lean wholly on Him.

Spirit of Prophecy counsels:

“The great danger with our people has been that of depending upon men and making flesh their arm.” Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 106–107.

This dependence weakens spiritual discernment. It leads believers to accept or reject truth based on human opinion rather than the Word of God. In the last days, such dependence will prove fatal.

Why This Warning Matters in the Sealing

The sealing is God’s work of settling His people into truth so they cannot be moved. But no one can be settled into truth if their faith rests on human authority. Truth must be anchored in Christ and His Word.

Spirit of Prophecy admonishes:

“Those who have not been in the habit of searching the Bible for themselves…will reject the very messages God sends to His people, if these leading brethren do not accept them.” Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 106–107.

That is not a condemnation — it is a diagnosis. A faith built on human leadership cannot endure the shaking. A faith built on Christ will stand forever.

The sealed are those who:

  • Test everything by Scripture
  • Follow Christ above all human voices
  • Listen to the Holy Spirit’s convictions
  • Refuse to be swayed by pressure or popularity

It is not rebellion — it is loyalty to God.

Christ, Not Man, Is the Source of Wisdom

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7.

Spirit of Prophecy emphasizes that even the most respected leaders are not infallible:

“Care should be given to teach every man his dependence upon God; for He is the source of all wisdom and power and efficiency. I have been shown that it is a mistake to suppose that the men in positions of special responsibility at Battle Creek have wisdom which is far superior to that of ordinary men. Those who think that they have, supposing them to have divine enlightenment, rely upon the human judgment of these men, taking their counsel as the voice of God.” Testimonies to Ministers, p. 374.

This statement does not diminish leadership. It elevates Christ.

It reminds us that:

  • All leaders are human
  • All leaders need grace
  • All leaders can err
  • All leaders must be tested by Scripture

The sealed people of God are humble enough to learn from others, but wise enough to test all things by the Word.

The Spirit of Prophecy and Personal Responsibility

Spirit of Prophecy repeatedly urges believers to study for themselves:

“It is the first and highest duty of every rational being to learn from the Scriptures what is truth.” The Great Controversy, p. 598.

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.

It is not independence, it is responsibility. It is not distrust, it is discernment. It is not pride, it is obedience to God.

The Holy Spirit leads each believer into the truth, but He does so through:

  • Personal study
  • Prayer
  • Humility
  • Surrender
  • Faith

Those who rely on others to think for them will not be prepared for the final crisis.

The Danger of Rejecting Light

Spirit of Prophecy warns that many will be lost, for openly neglecting and rejecting truth:

“To disregard light is to reject it.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, pp. 680–681.

“The Lord has shown me that we are in just as much danger [of rejecting truth] in our day as were the people in the days of Christ. The Lord is speaking through His delegated messengers; but the same unbelief is exhibited. Men close their hearts against Jesus and hold themselves in the veriest bondage to Satan, supposing that they are preserving their dignity as free men; that they are maintaining their right to think and act for themselves, to believe or doubt; and like the despisers of the gospel in the apostolic times, they wonder and perish.” Manuscript Releases, vol. 11, p. 283.

It includes:

  • Neglecting the Bible
  • Neglecting the Spirit of Prophecy
  • Neglecting prayer
  • Neglecting personal conviction
  • Neglecting the Holy Spirit’s voice

The sealing requires a heart that responds to light—not perfectly, but sincerely.

The Spirit’s Work in Producing Discernment

Spiritual discernment is not human intelligence—it is a gift of grace.

  • The Holy Spirit opens the eyes.
  • The Holy Spirit convicts the heart.
  • The Holy Spirit reveals truth.
  • The Holy Spirit protects from deception.

Spirit of Prophecy counsels:

“Only those who have been diligent students of the Scriptures and who have received the love of the truth will be shielded from the powerful delusion that takes the world captive.” The Great Controversy, p. 625.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8.

It is not a warning meant to frighten. It is an invitation to deeper communion with Christ.

The sealed people of God are those who:

  • Love the truth
  • Study the truth
  • Live the truth
  • Share the truth
  • Are transformed by the truth

It is the work of grace in the soul.

Dependence on Christ Alone

Spirit of Prophecy admonishes:

“Many who profess to know Him have turned from the One in whom our hope of eternal life is centered, and have educated themselves to depend upon their erring and fallible fellowmen.” Testimonies to Ministers, p. 376.

But Christ calls His people back to Himself. He invites them to lean on His wisdom, His strength, His righteousness, His Spirit. Dependence on Christ is not weakness — it is power. It is the secret of the sealed. It is the foundation of unshakable faith.

Spiritual Discernment and the Seal

The seal is placed upon those who:

  • Trust Christ above all
  • Test everything by Scripture
  • Follow the Holy Spirit’s leading
  • Keep the Testimony of Jesus Christ
  • Refuse to be swayed by human pressure
  • Stand for truth though the heavens fall

That is not stubbornness — it is faith. It is not independence — it is surrender. It is not self-confidence — it is Christ’s‑confidence.

The sealed are those who have learned to say: “Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth.” 1 Samuel 3:10.

SECTION 7 — THE LATTER RAIN & FINAL PREPARATION

The Latter Rain—Christ’s Final Work of Grace in His People

The sealing of God’s people is inseparably connected to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the latter rain. Just as the early rain fell at Pentecost to empower the church to begin its mission, the latter rain will fall with even greater power to finish the work. But this outpouring is not given because of human merit. It is the gift of Christ to a people who have surrendered fully to Him.

Joel prophesied:

“He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain.” Joel 2:23.

  • The rain is His gift.
  • The power is His power.
  • The transformation is His work.

Our part is to receive by faith what grace provides.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6.

Spirit of Prophecy expounds:

“The latter rain, ripening earth’s harvest, represents the spiritual grace that prepares the church for the coming of the Son of man. But unless the former rain has fallen, there will be no life; the green blade will not spring up. Unless the early showers have done their work, the latter rain can bring no seed to perfection. (par. 2) There is to be ‘first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.’ There must be a constant development of Christian virtue, a constant advancement in Christian experience. This we should seek with intensity of desire, that we may adorn the doctrine of Christ our Saviour. (par. 3)” Testimonies to Ministers, p. 506.

The preparation is not self-generated. It is the Holy Spirit softening the heart, convicting of sin, and drawing the believer into deeper surrender.

Truth as Rain—Christ’s Teaching Work Before the Outpouring

Before the disciples received the Pentecostal outpouring, Jesus taught them for three and a half years. His words were the “former rain” — the truth that prepared their hearts for the Holy Spirit’s power.

Scripture says:

“My doctrine shall drop as the rain.” Deuteronomy 32:2.

Truth is the first phase of the rain. Power is the second.

The same pattern applies today:

  1. Christ sends truth — the former and latter rain.
  2. The Holy Spirit convicts and transforms — the preparation.
  3. The Holy Spirit fully manifested — the latter rain power.

Those who reject truth cannot receive power. Those who receive truth by faith are prepared for the Holy Spirit’s fullness.

Spirit of Prophecy underscores:

“Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark by the man in linen, are those ‘that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done’ in the church. Their love for purity and the honor and glory of God is such, and they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, that they are represented as being in agony, even sighing and crying. Read the ninth chapter of Ezekiel.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 3, p. 267.

Truth is the seed. The Holy Spirit is the rain. The seal is the harvest.

The Purpose of the Latter Rain

The latter rain is not given to make God’s people proud, powerful, or spiritually elite.

It is given to:

  • Empower the final proclamation of the gospel
  • Strengthen the believer to stand during the time of trouble
  • Seal God’s people in righteousness
  • Reveal Christ’s character to the world
  • Prepare the church for the coming of Jesus

The latter rain is Christ finishing the work He began in us.

Paul writes:

“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6.

The latter rain is the “performing”—the completing—of that work.

Who Receives the Latter Rain Power?

The Spirit of Prophecy is explicit:

“The great issue so near at hand will weed out those whom God has not appointed and He will have a pure, true, sanctified ministry prepared for the latter rain. . . . (par. 3) A new life is proceeding from satanic agencies to work with a power we have not hitherto realized. And shall not a new power from above take possession of God’s people?– Letter 55, 1886.” Selected Messages, Book 3, p. 385.

The latter rain falls on those who have allowed Christ to cleanse the heart and who walk in obedience through grace and faith.

Spirit of Prophecy states plainly:

“At the time when the danger and depression of the church are greatest, the little company who are standing in the light will be sighing and crying…” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 209.

These are the ones who receive the latter rain power.

But notice the order:

  • They do not sigh and cry to earn the rain.
  • They sigh and cry because the Holy Spirit has already softened their hearts.
  • Their sorrow for sin is the evidence that grace is working.
  • Their loyalty is the fruit of faith.

The latter rain is not a reward for human effort. It is the gift of Christ to those who have surrendered to Him.

The Latter Rain and the Seal

The sealing and the latter rain are closely connected:

  • The latter rain truth prepares the believer for the seal.
  • The seal is settling into the truth spiritually and intellectually.
  • The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to stand.

Spirit of Prophecy declares:

“Those who receive the pure mark of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost…” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 3, p. 267.

The Holy Spirit does the work. Truth is the instrument. Faith is the channel. Grace is the power. Christ is the source. The sealed are those who have allowed the Holy Spirit to complete His work in them.

The Final Preparation—Surrender, Grace, and Faith

The final preparation for the latter rain is not a frantic effort, self-generated holiness, or human perfectionism.

It is:

  • A deeper surrender to Christ
  • A fuller reception of His grace
  • A stronger faith in His promises
  • A clearer separation from sin
  • A more earnest seeking of the Holy Spirit
  • A more complete trust in God’s Word

Spirit of Prophecy proclaims:

“If we receive the promise, we have the gift.” The Revie and Herald, December 24, 1908.

This is the essence of preparation:

  • Receive the promise.
  • Receive the truth.
  • Receive the grace.
  • Receive the Spirit.

Christ does the rest.

“And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.” Revelation 1:13.

The Spirit of Prophecy says that Christ is in constant communion with the churches:

“Christ walks in the midst of the golden candlesticks. Thus is symbolized his relation to the churches. He is in communion with his people. He knows their true state. He observes their order, their vigilance, their piety, and their devotion. Although he is High Priest and Mediator, in the sanctuary above, yet he walks up and down in the midst of the churches on earth. He goes from church to church, from congregation to congregation, from soul to soul. He is represented as walking, which signified untiring wakefulness, unremitting vigilance. He observes whether the light of any of his sentinels is burning dim or going out. If the candlesticks were left to mere human care, the flickering flame would languish and die. But he is the true watchman in the Lord’s house, the true warden of the temple courts. His continued watchcare and sustaining grace are the source of life and light. ( par. 5)” The Home Missionary, November 1, 1893.

The Urgency of the Hour

We are living in a time when the latter rain is beginning to fall in measure. Truth is being revealed. Light is shining. The Holy Spirit is calling. The sealing angel is moving through the church. The question is not whether Christ is ready to pour out His Spirit. The question is whether we are willing to receive Him. The call is urgent but not burdensome. It is a call to surrender, not striving.

  • A call to faith, not fear.
  • A call to grace, not works.
  • A call to Christ, not self.

SECTION 8 — FINAL APPEAL: SURRENDER, FAITH, AND READINESS

A Call to Wholehearted Surrender in the Sealing Time

As we near the close of this study, the message becomes unmistakably clear. The sealing is God’s work — and our part is to surrender to that work.

Christ stands ready to finish His work in His people. The Holy Spirit seals the heart with transforming grace and faith, preparing the character for the final test (Eph. 1:13–14; 4:30). Heaven waits to pour out the latter rain upon those who have surrendered fully. And the angel with the writer’s inkhorn — the sealing angel of Ezekiel 9 and Revelation 7 — is ready to place the mark of God upon all who have been settled into the truth, both spiritually and intellectually. The question is not whether God is ready. The question is whether we are willing.

Spirit of Prophecy forewarns:

“I then saw the third angel. Said my accompanying angel, ‘Fearful is his work. Awful is his mission. He is the angel that is to select the wheat from the tares, and seal, or bind, the wheat for the heavenly garner. These things should engross the whole mind, the whole attention.’” Early Writings, p. 118.

It is not a call to frantic effort. It is a call to single-hearted devotion — a life centered in Christ, empowered by grace and faith, guided by the Holy Spirit.

The Heart of the Sealing Message—Christ in You

The sealing is not about human perfection. It is about Christ’s perfection dwelling in the believer through the Holy Spirit.

Paul describes the mystery of the gospel in one phrase: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27.

This is the essence of the sealing:

  • Christ’s righteousness covers us
  • Christ’s character is reproduced in us
  • Christ’s Spirit empowers us
  • Christ’s love motivates us
  • Christ’s truth settles us
  • Christ’s grace sustains us

The seal is placed upon those who have allowed Christ to take full possession of their heart.

Faith and Grace—The Two Pillars of Readiness

Throughout this publication, we have emphasized the harmony of grace and faith— the two divine gifts that carry the believer into salvation, transformation, and sealing.

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. (2) He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved….. (5) My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. (6) He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. (7) In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. (8) Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” Psalms 62:1, 2, 5-8.

David expresses one central conviction: every form of salvation, stability, and security flows from God alone, and his repeated phrases are meant to train the soul to rest in that truth.

  • Salvation comes from God alone — He is the sole source of deliverance, help, and hope; nothing else can provide what He provides.
  • God is the only unshakable foundation and defense — He is the rock that stabilizes the soul and the protector who cannot be overpowered.
  • God Himself is both salvation and glory — He not only rescues but also defines our identity, honor, and confidence.

Spirit of Prophecy affirms:

“The grace of Christ and His righteousness are offered to men as a free gift… For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” The Review and Herald, December 24, 1908.

Grace is God’s power working in us. Faith is our hand receiving that power.

Together they produce:

  • Repentance
  • Obedience
  • Reform
  • Discernment
  • Victory
  • Holiness
  • Readiness

The sealed are not those who trust in their works. They are those who trust in Christ’s grace and walk by faith.

The Spirit’s Final Work—Settling Into Truth

Spirit of Prophecy defines the sealing as:

“Just as soon as the people of God are sealed in their foreheads–it is not any seal or mark that can be seen, but a settling into the truth, both intellectually and spiritually, so they cannot be moved–just as soon as God’s people are sealed and prepared for the shaking, it will come. Indeed, it has begun already; the judgments of God are now upon the land, to give us warning, that we may know what is coming (MS 173, 1902).” 4BC 1161.

The sealing is the Holy Spirit’s work of settling God’s people so firmly into truth and Christlike loyalty that they cannot be moved. This happens as believers fully surrender, allowing Him to shape their minds, hearts, and characters. When God’s people are thus settled and yielded, the sealing is complete—and the shaking follows.

The Urgency of the Hour

We are living in the most solemn period of Earth’s history. Prophecy is fast fulfilling. The sealing angel is moving. The latter rain is beginning to fall. The judgment of the living is approaching. The destiny of souls is being decided.

Spirit of Prophecy declares:

“If ever there was a people that needed to heed the counsel of the True Witness…it is the people who have had opened before them the stupendous truths for this time.” The Review and Herald, June 4, 1889.

This is not a time for spiritual slumber. It is a time for earnest seeking.

  • A time for deep repentance.
  • A time for wholehearted surrender.
  • A time for unshakable faith.
  • A time for complete reliance on Christ.

The Final Call—Stand With Christ

The sealing message is not a message of fear. It is a message of hope, victory, and assurance.

  • Christ is able to keep you from falling.
  • Christ is able to finish the work He began in you.
  • Christ is able to seal you for eternity.
  • Christ is able to present you faultless before the throne.

The call is to surrender fully to Christ—trusting His grace, walking by faith, following His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform the heart. The sealing is not about what we achieve for God, but what God accomplishes in us when we yield ourselves to Him.

A Prayer for the Sealing

“Lord Jesus, We surrender our hearts to You. We ask for Your grace to cleanse, renew, and transform us. We ask for faith to trust You fully. We ask for the Holy Spirit to seal us in Your truth. Prepare us for the latter rain. Prepare us for the final crisis. Prepare us for Your coming. Write Your law in our hearts. Reproduce Your character in our lives. And seal us as Your own. In Your holy name, Amen.”
